« The greatest asset of designers and artists is their ability to create a product that will never go out of style; something beautiful that we will want to pass on. »,
Frédéric Morand
Our origin
«A major player in the fast-fashion industry
destroyed over two million pieces of textile. The media quickly picked up the story, and political authorities got involved. Today, destroying any type of textile is prohibited.
Coming from the world of composite
materials, the idea occurred to me to
reuse unsold textiles and those treasures
gathering dust in our warehouses
in France, and give them a second life in
a new composite material.
It certainly wasn’t about creating something
fashionable and disposable, but about making something ‘beautiful,’ something people would want to pass down. This is perhaps the greatest strength of designers and artists: the ability to create a product that will never go out of style.
And so, Seldon.edition, a new house of
design furniture and accessories, was
born.»
The founder
Seldon.edition refers to the hero of Isaac
Asimov’s Foundation series. Seldon is
committed to the future with an ecological
spirit. The creations of Seldon.
edition are both organic and sophisticated,
bold and even quirky, thanks to
the union of textile art and design with
subtle products. These creations are
fueled by exclusive craftsmanship and
fit seamlessly into both chic, elegant interiors
and raw or refined exteriors.
Seldon.edition benefits from fifteen
years of experience of its creator, Frédéric
Morand, in the world of design furniture.
Fifteen years of encounters and
discoveries, but above all, fifteen years
in a rapidly changing sector, in a world
at a crossroads. Seldon.edition is a
brand suited to this new world.
Our low-tech
Seldon.edition has exclusive expertise
in the field of composite materials.
A composite material is the intimate
union of a matrix (a resin) and reinforcing
fibers, with the fibers constituting
80% of the product’s mechanical function.
Seldon.edition’s inventiveness lies
in using these reinforcing fibers for two
functions: strength and aesthetics. Our
reinforcements are all sourced from the
recycling or upcycling of textiles from
the fashion and furniture industries. Our
resin is bio-based.
The products of Seldon.edition are made
using an artisanal process that is extremely
energy-efficient. Our creations are
made in France.
